Welcome To OTTER POTTERY

Otter Pottery is located inside the Otter Rafting Adventures premises. David Todd has been producing pottery for display and for sale for a number of years now.  Come on by and see what we have to offer.

THE POTTER AT WORK

David Todd's creations include two different styles of work. His barrel fired pottery is a version of primitive pit firing. David uses a 45 gallon oil drum filled with alternate layers of pottery and wood mulch. This type of firing produces unique art that emulates David's portrayals of the Rockies, the endless skies of Alberta, and the river that flows through his town. Additional elements such as salt, ferns, and steel wool create uncontrollable effects that produce one-of-a-kind art.

Besides his infatuation with barrel firing, David has spent many years developing his own glaze using ashes from local trees. The rivers and runs of the glazes produce functional pieces.

He uses a combination of electric kilns and primitive firing techniques to produce his unique style of pottery.
